Dodoma.A Parliamentary probe team has interrogated two ministers in relation to the alleged human rights violation during the implementation of a recently halted countrywide anti- poaching operation.
According to the available information, the committee started its investigation on November 25 in Dar es Salaam by questioning different people including the two ministers and other senior government officials.
Though not confirmed, the ministers whose dockets were directly implementing the operation includes Mr Khamis Kagasheki (Natural Resources and Tourism), Mr Emmanuel Nchimbi (Home Affairs) and Mr Shamsi Vuai Nahodha (Defence and National Service).
“It is true that the probe team interrogated two ministers as the operation was under their respective ministries and is set to interview another minister before moving to the affected regions where according to its schedule the probe team was to start the visit yesterday,” a source who preferred anonymity said.
The source said the committee is required to complete its work and submit the report to Parliament between December 17 and 18 this year, during the 14th ongoing session which started yesterday.
When reached for response, Mr Lembeli confirmed that his team commenced its duties by interrogating different people, including government and security officials but declined to mention their names.
“We’ve started working in Dar es Salaam and have questioned various people and tomorrow (yesterday) we will go to the affected regions but I won’t give you details, more information will be given when we submit our report before the Parliament,” said Mr. Lembeli.
Members of the committee are Mr Abdulkarim Shah (Mafia-CCM), Ms Susan Kiwanga (Special Seats-Chadema), Ms Amina Clement (Koani-CCM) and Mr KaikaTelele (Ngorongoro-CCM).
Others are Mr Khatib Haji Kai (Micheweni-CUF), Ms Marry Mwanjelwa (Special Seats-CCM), Mr Muhammad Chomboh (Magomeni-CCM), and Mr Henry Shekifu (Lushoto-CCM).
